HS2 is set to award at least £6billon of construction work, with at least 18 new projects up for tender by the end of 2022.
According to the latest information published on HS2’s own website, the £100bn project will award 18 railway system and construction contracts in the next two years.
Projects include the construction of a new railway station at Birmingham Curzon Street, at a cost of £570million.
Procurement is yet to start on seven major HS2 projects, while the process has already started on the remaining 11.
Other lucrative contracts which have yet to be awarded include track installation for phase 2a, the section of the line that will run from the West Midlands to Crewe and which is understood to worth up to £500millon.
A further project, also with a £500million price tag, is the provision of a high voltage power distribution including traction power infrastructure. Procurement for this project is due to start in August 2020.
